What is the SFMA Level 1?
The Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) is our clinical assessment for those who experience pain. It is a movement-based diagnostic system that systematically identifies the cause of pain - not just the source - by breaking down dysfunctional movement patterns through a structured, repeatable assessment. The SFMA considers altered motor control - the inability to coordinate proper movements - and helps clinicians distinguish between mobility and motor control dysfunctions to guide effective treatment decisions.
What to Expect at the Live Course
Most of the live SFMA course is spent in practical sessions. Participants are taught the assessment through demonstrations and then given ample time to practice, with opportunities to ask questions as the material is covered. This framework ensures they are comfortable integrating the system immediately into their clinical practice.
Comfortable clothing you can move freely in is recommended.

SFMA Level 1 Online Course Included
The SFMA Level 1 Online Course introduces you to the key concepts and is a resource prior to attending the event. We strongly recommend viewing the online course prior to your event, but all information will be covered in the live event. Viewing the online course is not required before attending. It can also be utilized as a resource post-course.
Live Course Cancellation Policy
For FMS Academy Members:
The FMS Academy fee is non-refundable. The live course registration fee will be fully refundable if canceled 30 days prior to the event. If canceled within 30 days, there will be a $50 cancellation fee. Registrations can also be transferred to another event of your choice.
For Non-Academy Members:
The purchase of a course includes immediate access to the associated online learning materials. Once the online course has been accessed, the portion of the payment attributed to the online course is non-refundable. Any remaining eligible balance may be refunded.
