This exercise helps you learn to lift with your hips and a flat back by picking up two kettlebells from a stool with one hand on your lower back first.
Strap Assisted Straight-Leg Stretch
This exercise helps you stretch the back of your leg using a band to lift it gently a little higher as the tightness eases.
- Starting Position:
- Supine
Start: Lie on your back with both feet resting on a bolster. Loop the band securely around one foot and hold a handle in each hand. Pull your toes toward your shin.
Action:
Use the band to lift the leg, knee straight, until you feel a stretch. Hold there.
When the stretch eases, pull the band to bring the leg a little higher. Hold again.
Slowly lower the leg back to the bolster. Switch legs.
Feel: A firm stretch behind the thigh is right; a sharp pull behind the knee means you've gone too far. Keep the other leg relaxed.
