Shoulder Packing With FMT

This exercise helps you learn to set your shoulder solidly into your body by gripping a band and pulling your shoulder blade down.

Start: Lie flat on your back. Reach one arm straight up and hold the band's foam grip with a relaxed grip and a relaxed shoulder.

Action:

  1. At the same time: squeeze the foam grip firmly and pull your shoulder blade down toward your hip — away from your ear.

  2. Feel the muscles around the shoulder tighten into one solid connection between your arm and your body.

  3. Keep your head and neck neutral, and keep as much space as possible between your ear and your shoulder.

  4. Hold, relax, repeat. Then switch arms.

Feel: The arm should feel rooted into your torso. If the shoulder creeps toward your ear, reset and pull it down.
